A Sound Investment

SME provided the full electrical scope for the new WOSU headquarters, located in the campus area of The Ohio State University. This 18-month, ground-up project included service installation, lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm systems—all designed to support the needs of a cutting-edge broadcast and media facility. Working alongside Messer Construction, SME navigated the challenges of new construction with careful planning and coordination to ensure reliable performance and system integration. The result is a future-ready facility built to support WOSU’s mission of innovation, education, and public service.

The WOSU Headquarters project marked the construction of a new, state-of-the-art public media facility on The Ohio State University campus.

Over an 18-month schedule, SME delivered a complete electrical package that included utility service, interior and exterior lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm systems. Designed to support WOSU’s evolving needs in digital media, broadcasting, and education, the project demanded a high level of coordination and technical execution.

One of the core challenges of this job was the nature of the new construction itself—requiring precision installation to support highly sensitive broadcast equipment and future-ready infrastructure. SME worked closely with Messer Construction to ensure that all systems were installed on time, on budget, and to exacting standards.

The new WOSU facility now stands as a hub for public media innovation, backed by robust and reliable electrical systems built to support its mission for decades to come.
