Legacy Rewired

One of SME’s notable projects is the renovation of Metro at Indianola, a historic school building in Columbus, Ohio. Completed for Metro Early College High School, the project involved a full upgrade of electrical, fire alarm, and technology systems—delivered within the unique constraints of a century-old structure.

Metro at Indianola is a major renovation project completed for Metro Early College High School, located in Columbus, Ohio.

With a contract value of $5 Million, SME was responsible for the complete electrical, fire alarm, and technology scope of work within a historically significant building. The 18-month project required careful planning and execution due to the age and design of the structure, which presented challenges typical of historical renovations—including limited access, outdated infrastructure, and preservation requirements.

Working closely with Moody Engineering and Ruscilli, SME coordinated each phase of installation to ensure integration with both new and existing systems. The combination of technical complexity and historical sensitivity made Metro at Indianola a showcase of SME’s ability to deliver high-performance infrastructure in challenging environments.
