Powering a New Era in Community Health

SME provided complete electrical service for the new OhioHealth Pickerington Medical Center, a ground-up healthcare project designed to expand access to medical services in the region. Working alongside Korda and Messer, SME delivered power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and utility service systems—each tailored to meet the rigorous demands of a clinical environment. Despite challenges related to schedule, change orders, and the complexity of new construction, SME ensured seamless coordination and installation. The result is a dependable, code-compliant electrical infrastructure built to support 24/7 patient care.

The OhioHealth Pickerington Medical Center is a new construction healthcare facility designed to expand medical services in central Ohio.

SME was responsible for delivering a full suite of electrical systems, including service entrance, power distribution, interior and exterior lighting, and a complete fire alarm system. Built from the ground up, the project required a high level of technical execution to meet the stringent demands of healthcare operations.

One of the key challenges was managing the project’s aggressive schedule and adapting to multiple change orders, all while maintaining quality and safety within an active construction environment. The type of construction itself added complexity, with strict healthcare standards guiding system layout, installation, and inspection.

Working in close coordination with Korda Engineering and Messer Construction, SME delivered a reliable and future-ready electrical infrastructure that supports critical patient care functions, ensuring long-term performance for OhioHealth’s growing network.
