Crowne Plaza North

Located in north Columbus, the Crowne Plaza North hotel features 300 guest rooms, a restaurant, bar and 20,000 square feet of meeting space. Settle Muter Electric performed a complete replacement of the fire alarm system in this hotel, installing a new networked fire alarm panel and riser with 2-hour survivability.

In addition to the guest rooms and meeting space, SME installed new “rate of rise” heat detection devices over an operating swimming pool, utilizing a special lift. SME also installed an addressable Johnson system with selective voice evacuation and two hour fire rated communication.

This renovation took place during normal operation of the hotel, requiring SME to “cross-connect” the old fire alarm system with the new panels and selectively migrate each area to the new system without interruption of fire-safety coverage or disruption to the hotel’s customers.
