AEC/IEC Apprentice of the Year Awards

The Associated Electrical Contractors-Independent Electrical Contractors (AEC-IEC) has awarded Settle Muter Electric’s Jason Roach and James Foit with the 2011 and 2012 AEC-IEC Apprentice of the Year Award. The award recognizes outstanding academics along with ones over all knowledge and skills in the electrical contracting field.

Apprenticeship is a form of education that incorporates workplace training with technical in-school training. For over 20 years, Associated Electrical Contractors- Independent Electrical Contractors (AEC-IEC) has conducted apprenticeship training under standards approved by the U.S Department of Labor, turning out the very finest of electricians into the Central Ohio workforce and beyond. Many of the graduates go on to serve the trade and community as electrical contractors giving back to their trade by employing and helping to oversee the education of apprentices now in training. Prior to graduation each member of the senior class is given a final exam that tests their knowledge and skills in the electrical contracting field as well as entered in a wire off competition. The recipient who executes outstanding technical and detailed skills in the wire off competition along with above average grades, attendance, interview and essay writing skills advances to Nationals.

Demonstrating exceptional performance, Jason Roach won the 2011 Apprentice of the Year Award where he moved on to the National Championship in Kentucky. Due to hard work, dedication, and intelligence, James Foit took first place in the wire-off competition where he advanced on a national level in Ft. Worth, Texas.
