As a sub-contractor to RRT construction in New Jersey, SME assisted in the relocation and re-wiring of a computer equipment recycling machine from Arizona to Columbus, Ohio. This equipment included a shredder with (2)150 hp motors, complex conveyor system with material sorting and an electromagnet for collection of re-usable precious metals. SME built a new 2000 amp 3Ø service to power the relocated machine and installed new lighting, networking and general power.
When the onsite electrical contractor disconnected the machine for relocation in Arizona, no as-built or control drawings were saved. SME had to replace all of the control wiring and re-design the conveyor controls, along with all interlocks, PLCs and EPO circuits. This process was completed within 4 weeks with a crew of 6 SME team members.
