Builder’s Exchange of Central Ohio recognizes industry professionals with prestigious award
SME’s Dana Penrod Awarded the 2012 Builder’s Exchange of Central Ohio Craftsmanship Award
The Builder’s Exchange of Central Ohio (BX) has awarded Settle Muter Electric’s Dana Penrod with the construction industry’s prestigious 2012 BX Craftsmanship Award. One of the highest honors for professionals in the commercial construction industry, the award recognizes outstanding work that elevates their respective trade to a craft. Penrod and 8 fellow award recipients were selected from among 29 nominees for work completed throughout Central Ohio during the past year. Mr. Penrod and the other 2012 award winners were honored at the Aladdin Shrine Center during the 120th Annual Meeting of the Builders Exchange.
Demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship, Mr. Penrod was responsible for the installation of a new baggage-handling conveyor control system at Port Columbus International Airport. Leading a crew of 18, Dana and his team had to meet the challenge of integrating the new conveyor system with the existing system – without service interruption. With more than one mile of conveyors installed, the project was broken down into nine distinct phases.
Penrod noted “it was essential to confirm the layout and system tie-in for each phase of the project.” The challenge of working around the existing system – while putting the new system in place – limited Penrod and his crew to a narrow five hour (overnight) window, during which the airport traffic is limited.
Dana Penrod has been a leader in the electrical contracting industry since 1997, employed in the role of Project Manager by Settle Muter Electric (SME) for the past 5 years.
